PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 29, 2001--Horizon Air announced today that it will offer new nonstop jet service between Portland, Ore., and Fresno, Calif., with one daily flight each way starting Sept. 16.

"Ever since we started Seattle-Fresno flights in 1999, we have received customer requests for nonstop Fresno service from Portland," said Patrick Zachwieja, Horizon's vice president of marketing and planning. "We're delighted to be able to make traveling between these two important cities faster and easier and to expand the number of destinations with nonstop service from Portland."

Travelers from other Oregon cities will benefit by being able to fly Horizon into Portland and make an easy connection to the new nonstop Fresno service. Those cities include Eugene, Klamath Falls, Medford, North Bend/Coos Bay, Pendleton, and Redmond/Bend.

Horizon currently offers three daily nonstops between Seattle and Fresno. Starting Sept. 16, the Seattle-based regional airline will deploy one of those flights to the Portland-Fresno route, leaving two nonstops from Seattle.

Horizon Air has served Portland since 1981 and Fresno since 1999. This September, Horizon will celebrate its 20th anniversary.
