Horizon Air Cuts Business Fares on Seattle-Portland Shuttle Flights

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 2001--Horizon Air has cut business fares on its Seattle-Portland Shuttle by up to 27 percent.

The fare cuts are effective immediately and apply to all 28 flights Horizon operates on the hour and on the half-hour in each direction between the two cities throughout the business day.

Fully refundable one-way fares now start as low as $109 when purchased three days prior to travel, down from $150 previously. The lowest one-way walk-up fare that can be purchased anytime prior to travel is now $119. These fares include federal taxes but do not include passenger facility charges of $4.50 each way and federal segment taxes of $2.75 ($3 starting Jan. 1, 2002).

"Horizon Air is helping get business back in the air," said Patrick Zachwieja, Horizon's vice president of marketing and planning. "Along with our convenient schedules, easy on/easy off flights, generous Mileage Plan frequent flyer program and award-winning service, these new lower Seattle-Portland fares are just the ticket for business people who value their time and want a good value."

Even with today's beefed up security screening, Horizon Air and Alaska Airlines are making getting through the airport as easy as possible. Passengers holding electronic tickets can check in and print their boarding passes from their home or office PC before leaving for the airport or use one of the convenient Instant Travel Machines at the airport. With Horizon's popular Ala Cart baggage service, passengers can bypass baggage claim. They can take one piece of baggage to the aircraft, deposit it on a planeside cart, and reclaim it planeside at the destination. That's in addition to the purse or briefcase that can be taken on board.

Getting to and from Downtown Portland and Portland International Airport is now easier than ever too, thanks to MAX, Tri-Met's light rail system. MAX's new Red Line departs every 15 minutes from Horizon's baggage claim, arriving in Downtown Portland in just 38 minutes. That's less time than it takes to pick up a rental car and drive. Cost: $1.55 one-way!

Horizon Air is dedicated to providing passengers with the safe, reliable service they expect and deserve. That's why Horizon is the only airline flying between Seattle and Portland with aircraft equipped with "Fog Buster" Head-Up Guidance System (HGS) navigation technology. Simply stated, HGS lets Horizon planes take off and land in fog and dense clouds that ground other airlines.

When you add it all up, Horizon Air is the ideal business tool for Seattle and Portland business travelers.

Horizon Air serves 39 cities throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California, Alberta, and British Columbia. Horizon Air and Alaska Airlines are subsidiaries of Alaska Air Group, Inc. (NYSE:ALK).
