Horizon Air Board of Directors Elects Glenn S. Johnson Senior Vice President, and Rudi H. Schmidt Vice President and Treasurer

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 1, 2002--The Board of Directors of Horizon Air has elected Glenn S. Johnson Senior Vice President, with responsibility for the Horizon Air Customer Services division, and Rudi H. Schmidt Vice President and Treasurer, with responsibility for Horizon's Finance division.

The announcement was made by newly-elected Horizon President and CEO Jeffrey D. Pinneo, who most recently was a Horizon vice president responsible for Customer Services.

Johnson, 43, will be responsible for Horizon's largest division, consisting of more than 2,000 employees. He will oversee station operations at 40 airports covering five states, British Columbia and Alberta. His responsibilities will also include security, inflight services, food and beverage, airport affairs, facilities and network services.

Since 1991, Johnson has been Vice President and Treasurer of Horizon Air. Prior to his election as an officer of Horizon, Johnson served at Alaska Airlines as Director of Revenue Accounting. He also served on the board of directors of the Airlines Clearing House and the board of directors of the Airlines Reporting Corporation. Before joining Alaska Airlines, Johnson worked as a staff auditor for Arthur Andersen in Seattle.

Johnson is a 1981 graduate of the University of Washington and holds a bachelor of arts degree in accounting. He resides in Issaquah, Wash.

Schmidt, 49, will be responsible for the overall management of Horizon's Finance division, including general and revenue accounting, financial planning, information systems, purchasing, treasury, budgeting, and internal audit functions.

Schmidt was formerly Horizon's Controller for three years. He began with Horizon in 1991 as the company's Director of Financial Planning. Prior to joining Horizon, Schmidt served as Controller for an automobile dealership, and as a management consultant.

Schmidt holds a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from the University of Southern California and a master of business administration degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He resides in Redmond, Wash.

Horizon Air operates flights to cities throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Montana, Alberta and British Columbia. Horizon is wholly-owned subsidiary of Alaska Air Group, Inc., which is also the parent company of Alaska Airlines.
