Alaskaair.com Now Offers One-Stop Travel Shopping With Thousands of Car and Hotel Reservation Options

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 2001--Alaskaair.com brings one-stop shopping to its customers with the announcement today that travelers can book their car and hotel reservations at the award-winning Web site.

Alaska Airlines' popular Web site now offers more than 40,000 hotel properties and lists all major national car rental companies. Customers also benefit from special negotiated hotel rates of up to 70 percent off at nearly 400 destinations.

"This provides tremendous convenience and savings to our customers," said Steve Jarvis, Alaska's staff vice president of e-commerce. "Now you can make lodging and car arrangements and your Alaska reservation all at the same site. It saves time, and with the special rates, it saves money."

The alaskaair.com service is powered by WWTE (Worldwide Travel Exchange), a division within Expedia, Inc.'s wholesale subsidiary, Travelscape.com, Inc.

Alaskaair.com made history in 1995 when Alaska became the first North American carrier to sell tickets online and again in 1999 when it became the first carrier in the world to allow customers to check in for flights online via the Internet. Earlier this year, the respected Internet research firm Forrester recognized alaskaair.com when it ranked Alaska Airlines number one in how well the nation's major airlines serve customers over the Web.

Alaska Airlines was recently voted "World's Best Domestic Airline" by readers of Travel+Leisure magazine. Alaska and its sister carrier, Horizon Air, together serve 75 cities in Alaska, the Lower 48, Canada and Mexico.
