Alaska, Horizon Will Not Resume Service Today

SEATTLE, Sep 12, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Alaska Airlines (NYSE:ALK) and Horizon Air will not resume scheduled service today as previously planned.

Alaska and Horizon are working to resume service at the earliest practical time consistent with the directives of the federal government and operational procedures for both carriers.

"We recognize that this national tragedy and the shutdown of the airline industry has disrupted the lives of millions of Americans," said John F. Kelly, Alaska Airlines' chairman and CEO. "We appreciate their patience as all of us in the industry work through these difficult hours to safely reopen the nation's skies."

Alaska tentatively plans to operate a single flight today from Madison, Wis. to Seattle. That flight, Alaska Flight No. 1, was diverted to Madison yesterday while en route from Washington, D.C., to Seattle and on to Anchorage.

Information regarding the resumption of service will be posted as soon as it is available at www.alaskaair.com and www.horizonair.com.
