Alaska, Horizon Plan to Operate 65 Percent of Schedule Throughout Weekend; Standby Space Available for Travel

SEATTLE, Sep 14, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Alaska Airlines (NYSE:ALK) and Horizon Air today announced that they plan to operate about 65 percent of their flight schedule for Saturday, September 15, and Sunday, September 16, and that space is available on most flights for standby travel.

Both carriers plan to operate flights in nearly all cities they serve, with the exception of international flights to Canada and Mexico. Alaska also will not operate service to Washington, D.C.

Flights will be launched beginning at approximately 6 a.m. Pacific Time each day. Ticketed customers and customers planning to travel on standby can check the status of individual flights on line at www.alaskaair.com and www.horizonair.com.

Customers should keep the following items in mind before they arrive at the airport:

-- Passengers must present government-issued photo identification
such as a driver's license, passport or identification card
        before boarding their flight.
-- Due to the increased level of security screening at all
airports, plan on arriving at the airport at least two hours
        before departure for all flights.
-- Only passengers holding an electronic ticket confirmation
letter, a travel agency itinerary, an Alaska Airlines or
Horizon Air itinerary, a boarding pass or paper ticket will be
        allowed beyond security checkpoints.
-- Customers traveling with an electronic ticket can check in and
obtain a boarding pass at any Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air
Instant Travel Machine, including off-site locations such as
car rental agencies, airport parking lots and hotels.
-- Baggage will no longer be accepted for check in at curbside or
        off-airport locations.
-- Neither Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air are accepting
        unaccompanied minors until further notice.
