SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 16, 2001--Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air announced today that they expect to operate 75 percent of their schedules Monday, including the resumption of international service.

Horizon Air began limited service Sunday to the five cities it serves in Canada, while Alaska will resume service Monday to Vancouver, B.C., and the five destinations it serves in Mexico.

Alaska plans to operate a near-normal schedule to and from Mexico Monday with four flights out of Los Cabos, two out of Puerto Vallarta and one each out of Mazatlan and Ixtapa/Zihatanejo. Manzanillo also resumes its normal schedule of twice-weekly service, with a flight scheduled for Wednesday.

"We have been working closely with the various government and airport authorities and are grateful that these flights can now resume," said Bill Ayer, Alaska Airlines' president and chief operating officer. "We recognize that we have had many passengers in Mexico who have been anxious to return home and appreciate their patience following this national tragedy."

As a result of new security directives, customers will encounter stepped up security measures. Some of those security measures include, but are not limited to:

• Increased aircraft and airport security inspections;

• Increased passenger security screenings at all airports;

• No knives of any length permitted;

• Frequent random searches of both carry on bags and checked baggage.
