Alaska, Horizon Now Targeting Evening Start

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 12, 2001--Based on discussions industry CEOs had this morning with the FAA regarding new security directives and plans to reopen U.S. air space, the soonest -- repeat, the soonest -- that Alaska and Horizon would operate flights is 6 p.m. Pacific Time this evening.

If 6 p.m. does not become a realistic goal as time and events progress this morning, we will cancel the rest of the day and look to tomorrow morning (Thursday) for restart. A decision will be made at approximately noon PDT today.

Reservations agents at the two carriers have been attempting to contact customers to reaccommodate them. Those who haven't been contacted can call the airlines' toll free numbers, 1-800-426-0333 (Alaska) or 1-800-547-9308 (Horizon).

Customers scheduled to travel this week should check the status of their scheduled flights at either www.alaskaair.com or www.horizonair.com, and all passengers are advised to check in for their flights a minimum of two hours before departure. In addition, the carriers advised passengers to expect a number of security changes, including the elimination of curbside check-in of baggage. Web and wireless check in is closed until further notice.

Customers seeking to change their Alaska or Horizon flights may do so with no fee or penalty through Saturday, September 15. Those seeking refunds including refunds on nonrefundable tickets for travel through September 15 may do so at no fee or penalty.

For additional information, passengers are advised to monitor the airlines' Web sites at www.alaskaair.com or www.horizonair.com.
