Alaska Airlines Reports Improved Operational Performance

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 11, 2001--Alaska Airlines (NYSE:ALK) today reported record operational performance levels for the first 10 days of October.

Alaska reported a 98.9 percent flight completion rate for that period. The flight completion rate is the percentage of scheduled flights that are actually operated. It also reported an 87.5 percent on-time-performance rate, which is the percentage of operated flights that reach their destination within 15 minutes of schedule.

"Outstanding work on the part of our employees, greater aircraft availability and fewer air traffic control delays due to a lighter schedule, have combined to increase service reliability for our customers," said Ed White, Alaska's vice president of customer service.

Earlier this week, Alaska announced that it plans to operate at 100 percent of its pre-September 11 level by February 10.

Alaska serves 44 cities in Alaska, the Lower 48, Canada and Mexico. For more news and information, visit the Alaska Airlines Newsroom on the Internet at http://newsroom.alaskaair.com.
