Alaska Airlines Puts Award Travel On Sale

SEATTLE, Oct 12, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Alaska Airlines (NYSE:ALK) Mileage Plan members can now take to the skies with an offer that allows frequent flyers to save up to 25 percent when redeeming miles for award travel.

The offer, which gives a 5000-mile discount off a coach Saver Award, is good for any destination served by Alaska or Horizon. Mileage Plan members also receive 1,000 bonus miles by booking the award online at www.alaskaair.com.

"More people are flying each week, but there are still seats for award travel," said Gregg Saretsky, Alaska's senior vice president of marketing and planning. "Combined with the 1,000 mile bonus for booking award travel online -- essentially a rebate -- our award sale is the best mileage offer on the market. Our new on-line award feature, introduced late this summer, is an enhancement customers have been asking for."

Mileage Plan members can fly coach to any Alaska or Horizon destination within the United States or Canada for only 15,000 miles, rather than the normal 20,000 miles, or travel to any of Alaska's five Mexico resort destinations for only 25,000 miles rather than the normal 30,000.

Travel must be completed by Dec. 15. All other Saver Award rules apply, including blackout dates of Nov. 21, 24, 25 and 26.

Alaska Airlines was recently voted "World's Best Domestic Airline" by readers of Travel+Leisure magazine. Alaska and its sister carrier, Horizon Air, together serve 75 cities in the Lower 48, Alaska, Canada and Mexico.
