Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Members Now Can Donate Miles to the Red Cross

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 26, 2001--Members of the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan, the carrier's frequent flyer program, now can donate miles to the American Red Cross.

The minimum donation is 500 miles. And for every 5,000 miles donated between now and December 31, 2001, Alaska Airlines and Bank of America will each contribute an additional 1,000 miles.

"These donated miles will allow the Red Cross to use funds normally reserved for transportation for other purposes in the wake of the tragic events of September 11," said Bill MacKay, Alaska's vice president of public and government affairs.

The Seattle Red Cross will administer the use of donated miles for travel by staff and volunteers anywhere Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air fly.

To donate miles, Mileage Plan members can send an e-mail to red.cross@alaskaair.com with the member's name, Mileage Plan number and the amount of miles to donate. Or members can speak to a Mileage Plan representative directly at 1-800-654-5669.
