Alaska Airlines Board Room Opens Its First Canadian Location On Concourse E of Vancouver International Airport

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 20, 2002--The roar of the crowd. It can be exhilarating at a Vancouver Canucks game after an amazing slap shot. But exasperating at Vancouver International Airport if you're trying to get some last minute work done while waiting for a flight.

Now there's a quiet respite away from the din and clamor of the concourse for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air customers: the Board Room.

Conveniently located on Concourse E across from Gate E86, the 213-square-meter airport club opened earlier this week on February 18. Among its amenities are private workstations with telephones and computer data ports, a conference room for meetings, a fax machine, copier and other business-related services. Or if you prefer, just kick back and relax, and enjoy an array of complimentary snacks and beverages in a comfortable lounge environment.

Plus, as part of the opening celebrations, Absolute Spas is providing free shoulder massages and hand treatments for Board Room members visiting the new Vancouver Board Room, as well as monthly drawings for complimentary spa treatments and packages.

"Opening a Board Room in Vancouver represents our coming of age in Canada," said Gregg Saretsky, Alaska's executive vice president of marketing and planning.

"Over the last five years, our service out of Vancouver has grown from a single flight a day up to 12 daily departures serving seven West Coast cities. And in April, we'll add one more with our new service to Orange County, Calif., home of the Disneyland Resort and Knott's Berry Farm. Plus our sister carrier, Horizon, operates 14 daily departures from Vancouver as well."

Saretsky noted that in addition to being Alaska's sixth Board Room location, the Vancouver Board Room is also the first located outside the United States. Other locations include Seattle, Anchorage, Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Board Room hours are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. The annual membership fee is $275 CAD, plus a one-time initiation fee of $160 CAD, which will be waived the next three months for all Canadian residents. A one-day Board Room pass can be purchased for $40 CAD.

New members can enroll in person at any Board Room location. Enrollment forms are also available online at www.alaskaair.com.
