Alaska Airlines Adds Three Weekly Flights to Prudhoe Bay

SEATTLE --(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 3, 2001--Alaska Airlines (NYSE:ALK) will add three additional flights per week to Prudhoe Bay starting May 22.

Alaska Airlines Flight 149 will provide direct, same plane service from Anchorage to Prudhoe Bay via Fairbanks on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The return flight, Alaska Airlines Flight 140, will offer nonstop service to Anchorage timed to offer convenient connections to overnight flights from Anchorage to the Lower 48.

"This new service will allow us to meet the increased demand for service as a result of stepped up activity on the North Slope," said Gregg Saretsky, Alaska's senior vice president of marketing and planning. "And it will provide additional cargo capacity on the route as well."

All three flights will be operated using Boeing 737-200 combi aircraft. Scheduled flight times are:

Alaska Airlines Flight 149

  • Departs Anchorage, 6:49 p.m.; arrives Fairbanks, 7:42 p.m.

  • Departs Fairbanks, 8:17 p.m.; arrives Prudhoe Bay, 9:23 p.m.

Alaska Airlines Flight 140

  • Departs Prudhoe Bay, 9:58 p.m.; arrives Anchorage 11:38 p.m.

After June 10, flight times for both Flight 149 and Flight 140 will be scheduled approximately 20 minutes earlier.

Alaska currently offers one daily flight to Prudhoe Bay, departing Anchorage late morning and returning by mid-afternoon.
