SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 5, 2001--Alaska Air Group, Inc. (NYSE:ALK) today reported November passenger traffic for its subsidiaries, Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.

ALASKA AIRLINES

Alaska Airlines' November traffic decreased 4.7 percent to 933.0 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from 979.1 million flown a year earlier. Capacity during November was 1.378 billion available seat miles (ASMs), 4.3 percent lower than the 1.441 billion in November 2000.

The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare paying passengers) for the month was 67.7 percent, compared to 68.0 percent in November 2000. The airline carried 1,030,200 passengers compared to 1,092,700 in November 2000.

RPMs for the eleven-month period totaled 11.259 billion, a 2.9 percent increase from the 10.942 billion recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the eleven months ended November 2001 increased 4.1 percent to 16.453 billion ASMs, compared to 15.803 billion in 2000.

The passenger load factor for the first eleven months of 2001 was

• 68.4 percent, compared to 69.2 percent in 2000. The airline carried 12,596,300 passengers compared to 12,371,600 in 2000.

HORIZON AIR

Horizon Air's November traffic decreased 17.9 percent to 95.9 million RPMs from 116.7 million flown a year earlier. Capacity for November was 149.8 million ASMs, 19.6 percent lower than last year's 186.4 million.

The passenger load factor for the month was 64.0 percent, compared to 62.6 percent last November. The airline carried 333,600 passengers compared to 403,700 in November 2000.

RPMs for the eleven-month period totaled 1.242 billion, a 5.0 percent decrease from the 1.306 billion recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the eleven months ended November 2001 decreased 6.5 percent to 1.979 billion ASMs, compared to 2.116 billion in 2000.

The passenger load factor for the first eleven months of 2001 was

• 62.7 percent, compared to 61.7 percent in 2000. The airline carried 4,301,400 passengers, compared to 4,626,500 in 2000.
